Part of the Hecho en Bernalillo Art Workshop Series

retablo

Create a retablo of San Ysidro, saint of agriculture and laborers, using traditional techniques! This is a two-session workshop. Works will be displayed in the Plants of the Bosque exhibition at the Bernalillo Community Museum. Participants can take their art home after the exhibition.

Cautions to note for Participants:

  • While we will be using aprons and glove, there is a good chance for mess
  • Those with sensitive skin are highly recommended to wear gloves
  • Hand-wash buckets are used in place of a sink; no gesso materials can go down the sink
  • With the use of pottery plaster and marble dust, particulate masks are offered (especially those sensitive to particulate)
  • We will be using a hot plate; no extreme temperatures are used; however, caution is still required

Instructor: Santera Eliana Barela
Age Range: 7+ (ages 7-14 are required to have a guardian participating in the class) The classes are free, and all supplies will be provided.
