Coronado Historic Site offers extended hours from dawn until dusk on the First Sunday of each month, May through October, to allow visitors an opportunity to see the site at these beautiful times of the day. Join us today from 2-4 p.m. to enjoy fresh roasted corn from the horno (mud adobe oven) while listening to storyteller Rosalia Pacheco perform La Llorona or The Wailing Woman. This famous ghost from Spanish folklore is known throughout the world for her eerie, spine-chilling cries as she searches for her lost, drowned loved ones, her darling children. Early Spanish settlers knew of her. Her folk story was ancient in European mythology, but in New Mexico, it is said she lived next door or that an ancestor actually knew her. The NM Humanities Council sponsors this program. First Sundays are FREE to all New Mexico residents with ID. Regular admission of $7 per adult for non-residents
