Plants of the Bosque
The Agricultural and Medicinal Traditions of the Middle Rio Grande Valley

Plants of the Bosque (April 26, 2025 – Fall 2026)

This exhibition will focus on the agricultural and medicinal traditions of the Middle Rio Grande Valley by highlighting the deep connection between local communities and the land.

The Interactive Learning section of the exhibition will use sensory immersion, tech, and physical activities to explore a variety of subjects centered around local agriculture production, sustainability, history, and conservation. Topics will include traditional farming and irrigation techniques, native plant preservation, and biodiversity. The Art, History, and Culture section of the exhibition will be a more immersive experience, with displays utilizing a combination of historical and modern photographs, artwork, video, and audio content. Artwork from our community art workshop series, Hecho en Bernalillo, will also be displayed throughout the exhibition.

Museum staff members are always open to gathering content for this exhibition, even after our opening. If you have personal experiences or family stories, photos, or documents related to local orchards, farms, acequias, vineyards, or traditional healing practices that you are willing to share, please contact us. We would love to include that information in the exhibition, or possibly interview you for our Oral History Project.
