History of Sports in Bernalillo
Open now!

This exhibit was curated primarily by local student employees, and all content for the exhibition came directly from the community members, Bernalillo High School, and the Sandavol County Historical Society.

Museum staff have assembled several sports-related exhibits where visitors will be reminded of local accomplishments, learn about community members who worked tirelessly to maintain certain sports programs, and test their athletic ability. While the individual achievements of local teams and athletes are always an essential aspect of sports, we hope A History of Sports in Bernalillo will remind visitors that the day-to-day commitments to a common goal, a team, and a community truly make sports special!

Exhibit features:

TEST YOUR SKILLS: A series of skill challenges will allow visitors to test eye-hand coordination, accuracy, and reflexes.

BEYOND THE COURT:  Local non-profit organizations utilize sports to create positive community changes.

THE PERFECT FIT- FASHION THROUGH THE DECADES: A visual tour through the Bernalillo ages and the outfits that went with them.

50 YEARS IN THE MAKING: The history of the Coronado Little League, how the program was started, and how it has been able to thrive for the last fifty years.

SPARTAN PRIDE AND OUR MUSTANGS OF BERNALILLO: Each school has a detailed history and a background for its fierce rivalry and how it ended.

SPORTS IN BERNALILLO: The current sixteen-sport teams at Bernalillo High School, the history behind each sport, and some of the accomplishments of local athletes.
