The Wheels Museum Presents: A 1943 Santa Fe Travelogue
John Taylor – A 1943 Santa Fe Travelogue
Jack Delano was an Office of War Information contract photographer who was assigned to document U.S. railroads in 1942 and 1943. As a part of that assignment, Delano took a series of photographs of the Santa Fe Railway from the Chicago to Los Angeles. This presentation will show the New Mexico section of these photographs from Texico, New Mexico to the Arizona border. The photographs show the villages, station stops, and, and of course, the locomotives and rolling stock that plied the rails during the early 1940s.
John Taylor is a retired Sandia nuclear engineer, historian, author who has written and lectured extensively on various New Mexico topics including the Civil War in New Mexico, Catholicism in New Mexico, naval connections to New Mexico, and the history of railroading in the Land of Enchantment.
